WEB I18N GAP FIXED: Interoperable emphasis marks Chinese and Japanese natively indicate emphasis for inline text using a small mark above or below the characters in horizontal text and to the right/left in vertical text. Now supported, using CSS, in all 3 major browser engines.

WEB I18N GAP FIXED: All 3 major browser engines now support the ability to create custom counter styles—a major step forward in enabling fully interoperable list numbering & other counters that enable local approaches, especially for languages with smaller speaker populations.

WEB I18N GAP FIXED: All 3 major browser engines, Gecko, Blink, & WebKit, now support sending text direction of a field to the server using dirname. They also support changing the computed direction of a form field when set manually by a the user.

WEB I18N GAP FIXED: By default, runs of Latin alphanumeric text are rotated 90º and run down the page. However, sometimes (eg. for acronyms) alphanumerics need to stand upright. This is now supported in all 3 major browser engines. Gap report: w3.org/TR/clreq-gap/#issue24…
