This #CommunityGroup started in March this year as we reported back then
The mission of the @W3C Credible Web Community Group is to help shift the Web toward more trustworthy content, primarily through data sharing, in the style of @schemaorg_dev, using existing data standards like #JSONLD w3.org/community/credibility…
What technical approaches, in what procedural context, can be explored to help with the issues brought by technology in the social discourse (while avoiding creating new ones)? The #CredibleWeb #CommunityGroup is reporting its progress on the topic
What can tech safely do about declining trust? #W3C Credible Web group just published a guide: credweb.org/report Take a look, and let us know how to improve this for a future release. Enormous thanks to the many folks who helped me put this all together.

We will also get a demo from @drsecure on how #WebAuthn and Web Payments can be used together to make online payments safer
Replying to @w3cdevs
#WebAuthn is set to completely change how we authenticate on the Web - but will the UX match the needs identified by merchants to reduce cart abandonment? lists.w3.org/Archives/Public…

#WebAuthn is expected to reduce the risks associated with passwords significantly
Replying to @w3cdevs
#WebAuthn enables strong authentication using securely-held public keys with user content, rather than #passwords - given how fragile passwords are, this is a pretty big deal.

and a reminder, in case #Houdini doesn't ring a bell
Replying to @w3cdevs
In a nutshell, #CSS Houdini will let you build polyfills for CSS and experiment with crafting new CSS properties or values ⚗️ (which can then be fed into the standardization process, per the Extensible Web Manifesto github.com/extensibleweb/man… )
More #CSS #Houdini implementation, yay!
Thanks to @abraham and @chicoxyzzy for the PRs to help me keep ishoudinireadyyet.com up-to-date. Houdini’s Properties & Values API is in Safari’s Tech Preview. That means: You can now animate custom properties in Safari 🎉

He will also highlight how to get involved - if you too believe the Web is meant to be a universal computing platform, you too can help in making that vision true. To come and hear from @r12a in #Lyon, do not forget to register for the free event ti.to/w3c/w3c-developer-meet…
In his talk, @r12a will present how @webi18n makes it a reality, and will introduce the recently launched Internationalization Initiative which is reinforcing that program
Here are some links to information about the newly announced W3C Internationalization Initiative: Program overview w3.org/International/sponsor… Press release w3.org/2018/07/pressrelease-… Language matrix: w3c.github.io/typography/gap…

.@r12a is responsible for the internationalization activity in @w3c @webi18n whose work is to ensure that Web technologies can be used in as many languages and cultures as possible (and ultimately, all of them)

Introducing one more of our great speakers lineup at the #w3cdevs2018 #meetup - come hear from @r12a what it takes to make and keep the #Web truly world wide on Oct 22 in #Lyon w3.org/2018/10/Meetup/

In their demo, @marcosc (@mozilla) and @rsolomakhin (@google) will show how different browsers can use the same code to facilitate #payments on the Web. Register now! ti.to/w3c/w3c-developer-meet…
Thanks to the @w3c Web payment handler #API, the Web can enable completely new and innovative payment experiences. Faster #CheckOut and more secure user experiences w3.org/TR/payment-handler/
1
The @w3c Web Payment #API allows the user agent to act as intermediary between merchants, users and payment method providers: w3.org/TR/payment-request/
Replying to @w3cdevs
Its most well-known and deployed API is the Payment Request API, which streamlines the Web checkout process: browsers take charge of collecting and managing users' payment information, bringing less typing and more consistency in that experience w3.org/TR/payment-request/
1
The @w3payments suite of #APIs lets users pay for goods and services quickly, efficiently, and securely using a variety of innovative payment methods (credit cards, Google Pay , Apple Pay, etc.)
