WAI develops strategies, standards, supporting resources to make tech accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility: Essential for some, useful for all.
Correct, WCAG does not specify that captions are open or closed. We also do not suggest one over the other in w3.org/WAI/media/av/captions…
If you want to get input on this, you can send e-mail to the WAI Interest Group (IG) Discussion List – see: w3.org/wai/ig/#mailinglist
Course is open through 30 April 2020. The free audit option gives access to all materials, except "graded assessments", for 4 weeks. See updated info in W3C blog: w3.org/blog/2019/12/free-onl…
(We'll share link to updated info from edX on accessibility of verification process asap.)
Ditto.
(and thank you so much for considering promoting it!)
We have set that the course will be open through the end of April, at least. It's designed for about 20 hours of work. Thus, we can still promote the course in the coming days, after things are in better shape.
Web Accessibility Evaluation Report Generator - WCAG-EM Report Tool w3.org/WAI/eval/report-tool/… is updated with new options for selecting all success criteria in WCAG 2.1, or only new success criteria added in WCAG 2.1 #a11y#wcag
We'll provide additional info on course duration, what is included in the free audit option, and more. Given holidays, it will be January before we can get all questions answered and decisions made.
Thanks much for your interest, input, & patience!

There are a few short videos of instructors, some short videos of people with disabilities using the Web, a fair bit of reading, a little discussion, some "knowledge checks". It's not long lectures. It's a lot like this short example course: edx.org/course/demox
