This is a thread of my favourite Aussie slang. It’s a mixed bag of widely known vs regional, brand-new vs outdated etc. I had a neighbour in Melbourne for 5 years who spoke almost entirely in slang from the ’60s (so shout out to Frances from Mentone for teaching me lots of them!)

Der Weg zum Ziel führt über demokratische Mechanismen, zu denen halt auch unbequeme Koalitionen und die damit verbundenen Entscheidungen und Kompromisse gehören. Die Alternative favorisiert hoffentlich niemand

Immer noch sehr nützlich, danke. In letzter Zeit begegnet mir sehr oft das Argument, dass erneuerbare Energien nicht ausreichen und eine Wiederbelebung der Kernenergie die sinnvollste Maßnahme wäre. Gibt’s dazu irgendwo etwas ähnlich Praktisches?

Nearly 48 hours now since Twitter API was cut off from many third party clients. No explanation. My pet theory is it's an experiment to see how users react, in preparation for cutting off the API entirely Just a guess.
