Today I learned about Chile's drastic anti-obesity food labeling and its ban of commercials for unhealthy food, which seem completely awesome: theguardian.com/world/2020/f…

”hacked them by playing modem noises in their general direction” is not exaggarating, it’s literally what they did. Wow.

Schlimm.

The future is flexible. If you’re office-only, you’re going to lose people who want to work remote. If you’re remote-only you’re going to lose people who want a stable desk away from home. The winners are going to find the right way to balance the two.
The future is remote

It is such a bizarre thing to me but has happened for years with one thing or another. Folk go all in on something and can't see past it, so have to defend it. I'm sure it solves a class of problems, for some people, but nothing is the right tool for every job.

I've taken a look into "cancel culture" and the folks who've supposedly been canceled for Bad Tweets. Every one of them when called out doubled, tripled, and quadrupled down. When you find yourself in a hole, it's advised to stop digging.

How did we come to rely on graphs and #dataviz? "The invention of graphs and charts was a much quieter affair than that of the telescope, but these tools have done just as much to change how and what we see"—@FryRsquared, in a phenomenal @NewYorker piece newyorker.com/magazine/2021/…

Are they different? I don’t understand. You should pay taxes on gains when you sell, agreed, but if you don’t? How would you handle decreasing valuations? I haven’t seen any workable proposal yet, except a single-digit wealth tax (which is a good idea)
