I was there and this is 100% true!
Just kidding, it’s really not. I learned to program using this thing, and while I loved it and still do, they’re not comparable at all. They’re addressing completely different requirements and technical constraints.

While personally, I don’t have a problem with it for privacy reasons, I agree it’s extremely annoying and quite unnecessary. At the very least, they could make it opt-in on both the sending and receiving side
