I think for it to be believable, they would have had to ban him (and about a million other people) years ago. Doing it now (and for those two tweets) seems almost completely arbitrary to me. That said, I wish him all the worst, so fuck him for all I care

I am skeptical about Twitter’s ban of the orange embarrassment, even though I thoroughly despise him. I have no such misgivings about companies refusing to do business with Parler at all

I consider privacy and security extremely important system properties, and they are often overlooked, or not given the attention they deserve. But sometimes a bad status quo that is actually way worse is prolonged because the requirements for a new solution are too ambitious

Y'all, please stop retweeting that stupid "I heard from a friend who's way more technical so here's some bullshit!!!" reddit post. Have you not learned not to spread disinformation? What will it take for you to learn?

Sounds optimistic to me.

I think this article sums up some very valid points ft.com/content/6146b352-6b40…. It's also a case of strong double-standards on behalf of Twitter. And we all know they did this to score brownie points.

I remember those days, though not in such detail. Useful thread for people interested in the history of internet culture.

The modern era of spam is generally accepted as having begun with Canter and Seigel (a law firm) advertising their Green Card lottery services to 5,000 newsgroups in 1994. They claimed to have made $100,000 off the advertisements for an outlay of "only pennies". 1/
