As far as I can tell, wealth in the US has little to do with hard work or intelligence. The American dream has long gone. It is far more connected to parents (class) and to a lesser degree a willingness to exploit others and luck. If you want the American dream, move to China.

If the American dream is to live in an oppressive society that doesn’t feature basic human rights, that’s probably true.
