Don’t you find that terminology slightly weird? The coins aren’t anywhere because they don’t exist, only the keys do

Yeah. But the"value" was removed from the system. It was some money at that time, but is now quite a fortune.

So if there is a hack and money was stolen from a bank. Most of the money doesn't really exist either. Still it was "stolen" :-).

Of course the keys don’t exist physically either, but at least they exist virtually. But the whole “where are the coins” strikes me as off.
