Aren’t there boxes (indicating the machines) missing around the databases? Why the same box type for e.g. “Apache Tomcat” and “Web Server”?

Yes, here’s another one I made earlier … I was playing with different ways to express the same thing.

I thin the term "Web Server" is a bit misleading here, since it's just describes the host. Same with "Database Server" describing the host.

That’s right, it’s just describing the host. I sometimes refer to them by the actual hostname. What would you typically name those boxes?
