Today, there is little point for starting cloud (IaaS) & devop efforts, that boat sailed long ago. Better move is focus on serverless ....

I'll show you my AWS IoT solution on the next innoQ event. I doubt you would run a dedicated instance for this.

I would never run my smarthome stuff in the cloud. Maybe I am just the wrong customer :-).

Personally, I’d opt for a progressive enhancement attitude. Not everything needs to work offline.

agreed… but sending a request between your phone and an IoT device via the internet is just O_o.
