Let me try something different … PaaS is underrated and a better set of abstractions for most developers to work with than Docker. Discuss.

@ewolff it depends (as always). For 12 factor apps, you may be right. But not for clustered apps or non http protocols.

I still think it's early days for PaaS...

IMHO the momentum of Docker is larger than PaaS i.e. unlikely PaaS will win. Which I don't really understand BTW.

Docker is supported by multiple platforms, weirdly making it the closest to a portable “standard” we have

? Docker=Linux Windows Docker=Windows And then there are BSD Jails, Solaris Zones - all incompatible.

you're a mac user ain't you? Or you're talking only about server side?

Yes, my view is that for most practical purposes, it's Linux on the server, browser as client. Everything else is an exception :)
