There are no RESTful APIs without hypermedia. This is not an optional constraint. A different name might be more appropriate.

the clients don't know how to interpret the new versions and thus won't follow the links. No breaks at all.

FWW I've started to use "web APIs" for anything that's not RESTful.

@ZalandoTech @github I use the term "DoH" (documents over HTTP). Other implications are purely coincidental 😉.
