If that were what people meant, i wouldn't object. Most know neither HTTP nor REST, though

According to Fielding,REST is "an architectural style" and is not dedicated to HTTP. Fielding applied REST to HTTP URI

please explain. I understand that rest is a style of http, but saying "over http" or "over https" conveys one more bit of info.
