I'm convinced XML namespaces cause 100 times more complexity than their value. Please, please, don't reinvent them in JSON.

Not sure I agree. If they'd been part of XML from the start, how would they have been different from modules in programming?

Modules encapsulate. You can intermix namespaces.

terminology is hard in 150 chars. Let's say C# namespaces or Java packages.

That would be like having namespace aliases in string variable values in C# that you need to resolve.

Exactly, and that was a result of them having been bolted on afterwards. The problem might be worth being solved, though
