What puzzles me in #FP101x is the widespread fear of monads; they are not some kind of voodoo, but a type constructor with two HO functions.

@headinthebox Too much of FP has too much academia in it. It creates a false sense of a high bar to comprehension.

@tedneward I avoided all mumbo jumbo. Still the students think they are "missing something" where there obviously is nothing to miss.

@headinthebox My guess: You can’t unlearn what you know, and thus can’t really judge what it’s like for people who haven’t grasped it yet

@stilkov That implies that there is "something" to grasp. That is the fallacy. There is nothing deep, special, or magic about them.
