Same here. Only opening PDF documents from the command line using 'open' no longer works.

“Normal” people don’t need it, anyway. Just developers :-) And it only seems to be the Apple-provided JDK 6 that’s removed.

If you have troubles starting idea or other java apps then you need to manually install the Apples java for an old OSX.
