No doubt open source has “won” (whatever that means exactly), but if you see anything ethically superior about it, you’re fooling yourself

. @danielmarbach It’s become a pure business decision (maybe unless your code is under GPL (without a dual license).

@stilkov more importantly, you can still have a bad closed/semi-open design and fool yourself into being "open" because your source code is.

@stilkov Would you say Wikipedia is ethically superior to Britannica? Seems so to me. Public sharing is a public good.
