people don't join to have their timeline curated by an algorithm, but they stick because an algorithm does that.

you could disable filtering on FB, most people (including me) just don't do it. Just switch to "sort by latest".

in fairness, twitter is asymmetric: you curate your timeline. FB is symmetric, yet people people don't like information overload.
