If you want to say something should be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you mean 24×7 not 24/7, which is approximately half a week.

To be fair, I wasn’t taught “/” means division in math class. The symbol we used was “÷”

Yes, but never using a slash. First time I encountered that might well have been in my first computer program.

Apparently, the ÷ (obelus) symbol meant subtraction until 1659, except here in Norway, where it still means that!
