Confs: consider explicitly stating that you will pay speaker expenses. Most confs do, and a lot of novice speakers don't know this.

@jessitron @jcoglan Exactly. If you don’t ask, they’ll typically not remind you. There are exceptions, though, e.g. QCon/GOTO AFAIK.
