Of the ~60 people attending my talk yesterday, exactly 0 were women. Whatever one thinks the reason is, how can this not be totally wrong?

@stilkov dunno. i think we just have to accept the fact that most women are not attracted by c.s. as well as they are not attr. by tractors

@stilkov watched my kids grow up, a boy and a girl. without influencing them they had completely different interests since they could walk

@ufried I have a boy and a girl, too. I don't for a second believe they're not treated differently, in more or less subtle ways.

@stilkov i stopped worrying about it. out of 500+ applications i've seen in the last yrs there was 1 woman. if they don't even study it ...

@ufried Which is exactly the point. We don't need to hire more of those who apply, but get more to become interested as kids
