The performance boost can only be in doubt for sites heavily optimized with CSS splicing, concatenation, etc.

I don’t understand. Any site that uses lots of 3rd party resources will not benefit much from SPDY.

My point was that unless sites are optimized using the well-known hacks, there will definitely be a performance gain
