Three biggest hassles with Maven: 1. xml verbosity, 2. strict, coarse-grained build phases, 3. usual answer to questions: "don't do that".

@pmorelli I consider that a flaw of almost any package management system, but Maven makes more noise than anyone else.

@sampullara @pmorelli Well I'm hopeful that switching JRuby to a Maven build is going to be a good decision. Several days of hassle sofar.

@headius why don't you use Gradle for JRuby?

@stilkov @bitboss Yes, I don't think Gradle buys us enough to warrant requiring Groovy + Gradle to build JRuby.
