Need to do some more cool software again in the future. Looking back on great stuff sometimes hurts :-/.

@mrreynolds so when was the last time you did a native cross-plattform app for the Desktop? Linux/Mac/Windows?

@phaus I built a bunch, and it was never worth it in hindsight. @h_schreiber built a pretty great one; I don't think he'd do it again
2
@stilkov so @h_schreiber should have used a native UI like cocoa and WPF or loosing the Windows Market then?
2
@phaus For him to answer, of course. If I were in his market, I'd do one first, probably for OS X or iOS, and decide about porting later
2
@stilkov @phaus most do the same. What did you use, @h_schreiber? What were your pain points? I build some Swing apps but it’s 4y since then
3
@goldstift @stilkov @h_schreiber i used Rocca (native cocoa wrapper) and macwidgets (try to mimik cocoa with Swing). I like to try JavaFX.

@phaus Of course different expectations require different approaches. I'm just very sure cross-platform won't meet mine or @mrreynolds's

@phaus In my view, cross-platform UIs put developer interests first and lead to apps that either look like shit (or ”almost right” at best)

@phaus But it's entirely up to you to consider me (and others like me) the superficial kind of user you don't give a fuck about :-)
