Anybody out there who has found an easy way to type German umlaut characters in Emacs or Aquamacs on OS X with a US keyboard layout?

@maik_schmidt And it works in Emacs? Because I do too and it doesn't

@stilkov Oops. Didn't read the Emacs part. I use Vim and it works. Sometimes Mac OS X automatically switches back to the original US layout.

@maik_schmidt Had that problem, too: You probably accidentally hit the keyboard shortcut to switch, can be disabled
