GDPR has been costly to businesses & user experience but the real tragedy is that it was designed to harm big tech without considering that with their money & resources it was easier for them to comply than random businesses. Now EU just passes anti-big tech laws like DMA & DSA.
GDPR is a rare example to a terrible solution to a problem nobody really had or cared about, that ended up making everything far far worse. And yet, have never herd of anyone trying to undo it.

Can you explain how CCPA is different? Or is it similarly misguided in your opinion? Seems to be roughly the same thing (and I like it for exactly the same reasons)

CCPA is conceptually worse because it asks to apply a GDPR-style privacy regime on a a single state in the U.S. made worse by other states having specific areas where they’re either more or less stringent. In practice, they haven’t been issuing huge fines like the EU so 🤷🏾‍♂️

Fair enough. At least you’re consistent in your dismissal of the need for privacy regulation.

Saying that GDPR and CCPA are poorly written isn’t the same as saying there’s no need for privacy regulation

I’d be interested to hear about the part that’s badly written
