It’s also fairly obvious that it’s better for the NFT ecosystem if OpenSea ends up being the arbiter of truth for stolen NFTs than if there were say 10 different similarly sized marketplaces with wildly different policies on stolen NFTs. This is how centralization happens.

True for security-related issues in general. Simpler and more convenient solutions always win, as long as they’re good enough from a typical user’s perspective
