Interesting blog! That's why i like @vaadin . There Zero-API (I didn't knew this term before) is a core concept.

Yes, Vaadin is a good option. Nevertheless, you can combine it with a so called SPA framework, too. It might not be the best option most of the time. But using such a framework does not necessary mean that you split up the frontend and backend team.

You could argue that with a traditional web app, your browser is the API client. With an SPA, your browser is a runtime for your API client.
