Yesterday, the German state I live in (NRW) launched its website for vaccination registration. Predictably, it broke down. After all, there’s no way for a poor country like Germany to create a website that can handle 700 requests/second. That’s black magic

Würde es nicht unseren Glauben erschüttern wäre es anders? Wer in der öffentlichen IT arbeitet muss Altruist sein. Bezahlung ist nicht alles aber < 40k für Bachelor mit Erfahrung ist eine Herausforderung.

We have only developed things like elasticity and engineering methods like Palladio to implement this black magic.... #fail @PalladioBench

Well, you know, that whole internet-stuff popped up rather quickly and caught the german governement by surprise, so cut them some slack to adjust to cut-of-the-edge technology. They can do it! They already provided every office with those new 'fax-machines' in record time...

I've stupid questions: 1. Are you sure about your data (700? Really?) 2. Why is this as problem?

it’s not because of money but lack of requirements. If someone orders software system, one should define operation requirements together with functional or visual. You can’t just order wooden bridge, you need to specify at least length, height and throughput
