Sure, but it reeks of "we got caught so we'll take a step back". It will be up to the user to opt out, and there'll be some message saying "Are you sure you want to opt out of keeping your device secure?" with the onus of understanding the impact being on the user.

True. One of my colleagues pointed out it would be much better if they checked things locally (against a periodically refreshed list), and I concur.
