Skimming the paper, they're not arguing that the computer can detect if someone is trustworthy, they're arguing they can detect is something is *perceived* as trustworthy.

He does? He talks about replicating biases that humans have, and also he's a small account with 1200 followers who were mostly other academics and was not expecting to becoming the main character of Twitter today

I only read the tweets and tons of comments, and was biased into the wrong conclusion.

Yet I still felt I had done my due diligence as I re-read it (the thread) multiple times, and waited for a few hours before tweeting. And still messed up.
