1. Vaadin described as a server-side framework and an alternative to SPAs? Yours truly is intrigued, opens the Vaadin documentation at vaadin.com/docs/flow/Overvie… 2. Disables JavaScript 3. Reloads 4. Observes blank page 5. Closes Vaadin page
I really like that (German) talk by @simas_ch youtube.com/watch?v=GSPdKCi0… This is where the money is earned: "Boring" ERP applications. The talk is about going from Oracle Forms to a Vaadin and jOOQ. Excellent choice. Been there myself.

Is there a "official" definition of the term "SPA"?

I have watched the talk and for me the topic was not about "an alternative to SPA as an architecture" but about an "alternative how to develop SPAs". An alternative to current frontend frameworks and frontend build tooling. //cc @simas_ch

Vaadin is clearly not a server-side framework. I don't think the talk was implying this. But Vaadin enables purely server-side development.

Exactly. I think I mentioned that Vaadin is creating a SPA. We even had a question how large the frontend bundle will be

Sorry, concluded this (obviously erroneously) from the talk description on YouTube, didn’t have a chance to watch it yet.

@stilkov - (serious question) How would you define/characterize the term "SPA"? I am still not entirely convinced that applications built with @Vaadin can actually be classified as SPAs. Fore sure they are "JavaScript-heavy" applications.
