To Americans who like Greek food: Tzatziki is actually supposed to be a little spicy from the raw garlic. Dill is optional. I’ve yet to find tzatziki in the US that even somewhat resembles real Greek tzatziki. This recipe is good (use google translate): argiro.gr/recipe/tzatziki/

I have found that American garlic is less potent than Greek garlic, maybe garlic in Germany is also less potent?

Probably true. In addition, Bulgarian heritage might influence my taste ;)
