This is a really sensitive topic; the absolute wrong thing to do would be to leap to conclusions and start making decisions about a child before the child has. Just love them, no matter who they want to be.

Im adding myself to the growing list of women who are revealing being a tomboy as a child, and a feminine straight woman today. To think that my former 10 year old self would today be labelled as a trans child is terrifying. Leave kids alone.

I think the person you’re replying to uses a straw man argument. I find it unfathomable that anyone would label a child as trans just for not conforming to stereotypes, let alone pressure them into any more serious consequences. Sounds like fear mongering to me.

That may be, but at the same time, such arguments need to be deflated at once. I dunno how biology and psychology combine to decide who is trans and who isn't, and frankly nobody else does yet, either, so we need to just back off a little before we decide anything.

All I’m saying is: We don’t need to “back off“ because absolutely no-one is actually making a decision lightly and without the child’s consent (explicitly not talking about intersex infants, where that used to be the case but hopefully isn’t anymore)
