I use the Twitter web app, and I estimate that only 1 in about 1000, maybe even 1 in 10,000 tweets is “promoted”. Am I just lucky? Or is this a common frequency?

I see quite a lot on iOS app. Maybe you’re just not targeted as much due to location / age / who you follow?

Entirely possible

I used to see them more frequently than I do now, probably because I just block any account that promotes itself. I don't know if Twitter adapts according to this behaviour.

I do the same, so yes, that’s possible

Didn't take numbers, but they are quite rare. More like 1:1k, though, if I had to guess.

Have been stories recently that Twitter modulates ad frequency based on follower count. You're providing enough valuable content/virality to the network so they don't need to annoy you with ads.
