I am not a totally evil guy, so some time ago I relented and added an invoice page to Pinboard for people who need to submit stuff to their accountant. But for some reason it lacks what Germans need, and the resulting correspondence has been a rich source of private entertainment

Us Germans have very strict criteria when it comes to tax law … or anything else that lends itself to be turned into a ridiculously complex set of rules and processes, TBQH. Kind of a national pastime.

I think I’ve seen something similar when ordering goods in Mexico on the Amazon Mexico site. Businesses need a special receipt for bookkeeping. pin is well within his rights not to offer this special receipt, but suggesting the client alter their receipt isn’t a good option.
