I’m pretty sure there’s something like Amdahl’s law, but for decentralized, autonomous teams working on something in parallel. But if there is, it’s awfully hard to find. Any hints?

I like the Universal Scalability Law as an extension of Amdahl’s Law that includes the coordination overhead too.

But I am also curious about your original question: is there a reason why you think Amdahl’s Law itself would not apply?

It applies if it’s interpreted a little freely, I think, and it would serve my purpose. Just don’t want to miss something existing that might be a better fit.

Got it. Yes, I agree you need some metaphorical thinking. Especially since we don’t have an objective way of measuring software teams’ output.
