As an Australian I find it odd that Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Pressley and Tlaib are seen as the “far left” when they’re just fighting for things that, well, pretty much every other developed country has had for years. Just my two cents.

Yes, but as a German, it also bothers me massively that OC and Bernie and all the other "Democratic Socialists of America" a(s they srsly call themselves) demand "Socialism", when what they want is a strong welfare state like most of Europe has it. Socialism is nothing desirable.

Well … theoretically it might be, practically it’s not. But I agree with your point.

They're just hurting themselves by calling for Socialism when they mean social democracy. People won't vote for that, and shouldn't. Imagine how easy it would be for a campaign called "Jane Doe for President - for a more social democracy". Nobody can genuinely be against that.

Yeah, no, as much as I’d like to believe that, I seriously doubt it. We’re in a time where rational arguments lose against populism and racism led by immoral fools

Well. We won't know until someone has tried. But what I'm certain of is that if someone were to try and run on a platform called "for a more Socialist America", that would (rightfully) be a non-starter.
