One of the major challenges is getting ~125 people from locations all over Germany and Switzerland to the same place at roughly the same time. Today, we have flights from DUS, CGN, MUC, TXL, NUE, HAM, plus various train and car rides

We’ve had lots of discussions about the environmental footprint of the whole thing (and we’re about to have another one tomorrow). At least until now, we’ve considered it worth the effort as it enables us to work remotely for most of the rest of the year much more easily.

We do have many parents of small kids at the company. Most of them can handle it because the dates are known a year in advance. And of course it’s no big deal to miss one once in a while. But we try to be very clear about this upfront so folks can decide whether it can work.
