In India we used to have booth/ballots capturing by local ‘strongman’ or ruling party cadre (since they had govt backing) at least that can be mitigated.
Also look at video in my quoted tweet and see how a guy is stamping blamk ballots post election.
And people (blindly) want to go back to paper ballots.
Electronic voting machines *might* not be 100% secure but one thing they prevent is manual hijacking of electoral process, which, in a lot of parts (specially economically lagging) of this country - is still an issue.
