Agreed, what’s even worse than its quality is the utter despair I feel knowing it doesn’t matter at all and it will be soon be used in >90 % of places anyway

I’ll disagree with you there. I don’t see how we should hold individuals responsible for the actions of an oppressive regime (unless they support it publicly, in which case I would agree completely)

While I still consider the blockchain approach technically interesting (with extremely few actual use cases), the percentage of the cryptocurrency and web3 space I can’t stand has grown to 99 %

Pick two. For most web applications, any decent server-side library or framework will do. It’s probably a good sign if it doesn’t mention any client-side programming at all. For client components, vanilla JS or anything that doesn’t have server-side ambitions is fine, too :)

Nice to see it can be used to do PE (even if it does not seem to be the default)

I’m sure it meets its goals well, but unobtrusiveness and progressive enhancement don’t seem to be among them

Completely agreed, I have the same feeling about a change in the zeitgeist. I just hope it’s not just because I want it to be true nolanlawson.com/2022/05/21/t…

As a side effect, TIL I you’re at Meta now, a mere 3 years after it happened :)

A pattern does not describe some new invention, it describes something that’s been observed as a useful solution multiple times. Saying JPA implements those patterns is correct but does not take credit away from anyone

I’d be interested to hear about the part that’s badly written

Fair enough. At least you’re consistent in your dismissal of the need for privacy regulation.

Can you explain how CCPA is different? Or is it similarly misguided in your opinion? Seems to be roughly the same thing (and I like it for exactly the same reasons)

Not a problem, there would be zero chance to take someone to court for that successfully
