While that’s 100% true, I still maintain that in some contexts it’s good to gather feedback about some feature’s value in production, and in some it’s not
1
Yes. It seems a misunderstanding: Releasing stuff that doesn’t work properly is not the same as releasing something that doesn’t have all the features
1
Sure. I just wanted to point out that agile development’s “learning from trying out things in production” might not be the best choice for every context :)

I can imagine it (or something like it) might make sense for, say, a nuclear power plant control system

I absolutely hated it when it was released, but can appreciate it a bit more now

Been a fan of the book(s) for more than 35 years, saw Dune today, and absolutely loved it

100% of all software architects that deserve the label would agree that “design (mostly) before building starts” is the wrong approach, and that architectural work is something that needs to happen throughout the lifetime of a system

As much as I try not to comment on idiotic US politics, this one thing has been on my mind for a few hours now. Peak stupidity?
I love that the solution to the logical inconsistency of fighting against vaccine mandates for one deadly disease when they exist for other deadly diseases is to decide that we should end vaccine mandates for all deadly diseases we can prevent. This is worse than medieval times.

A fantastic feature and a great story. Also, a nice reminder that internal implementation values don’t matter unless they serve some end user’s purpose
The path from idea to implementation is often long and tedious. The lesson here: stay focused on what you believe in. blog.sigplan.org/2021/09/14/…
