This has been our company policy forever. As a consultancy, we often need to be on-site with clients (or the client thinks so), but even that has continuously decreased and is now probably below 40%.
I don’t understand why almost every tech company doesn’t just allow employees to work remotely. Even when you’re in the office everybody talks through Slack so what’s the point? Death to office jobs. Let people have the option to come into the office or not.

Hyperbole
What word did you learn first by reading before you realized you were pronouncing it wrong the whole time?

Examples of such benefits: They’ll load faster, fail less often (and not as badly if they do fail), provide targets people can link to, work in line with user expectations …

My favorite thing about web apps built using an approach that emphasizes web fundamentals, accessibility, semantic HTML, progressive enhancement, mobile first, and limited use of fancy new JS techniques, is that they create extra value for their users almost by accident

What a completely unimpressive car. It’s as if this is intended to boost Model 3 sales.

I think you should treat it as a community issue. Just as you don’t want to work with some people, you might want to not work with some organizations. If it happens to be the community’s majority view, elevate it to its CoC.

As a foreigner, I don’t know much about US politics or #JeffreyEpstein, but I expect evangelicals to fully support his bid for being the GOP presidential candidate once Trump has died in his third or fourth term

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve found that effective systems architecture work happens in informal hallway and cafeteria conversations 50% of the time
This might sound really dumb when I say it out loud but boy have I been surprised by how much of "engineering effectiveness" in a huge company is just finding the really good humans in other teams, building personal relationships with them, and helping each other out.

If you see me tweeting in German, it’s mostly about this topic.
"It’s hard to escape the conclusion that the German state has long had difficulties preventing right-wing violence and apprehending its perpetrators because there’s substantial sympathy for neofascistic causes within the German government" WORD! foreignpolicy.com/2019/07/02…
