I’m torn between admiring @ChristinGorman for her patient arguing and feeling sad for the time wasted.
"Of course there are fewer men interested in sewing. Men are on avg more interested in football than women, so how could you expect anything else?" Make sense? No? So why this idea that female interest in people leads to a reduced interest in programming? Drives me nuts!

“She believes, for example, in single-payer healthcare and has suggested taxing Wall Street to fully fund public universities. She also supports “clean campaign finance,” and has said she will not accept corporate donations.” Madness, clearly! Oh, wait, actually it’s not.
some people think this is a sign that she's not ready or qualified I take this as a sign that she's not corrupted news.vice.com/en_us/article/…

I really enjoyed #BohemianRhapsody because of the music (of course) and the brilliant acting, so I’ll probably watch it a few more times. But I’m still slightly angry about the history rewriting.

Even as a beer drinker, I find the idea of serving nothing else completely ridiculous

It’s 1-2 hours of work per person (always citizens); a small price to pay, much less than, say, jury duty in the US. Once they’re counted locally, results get transmitted digitally, but can always be recounted

+1. One of the reasons I like polling using RSS/Atom feeds or SSE in scenarios where low latency isn’t a key requirement.

In Germany, voting is done on Sundays. Seems like a very sane and obvious choice to me.

Interestingly, the most common trigger I observe is not runtime problems, but development time issues. One major reason for different modularization strategies

It’s all related, IMO, but it seems having a good (im)mutability design is a much more important ingredient for being a good language for distributed systems programming than static typing
