My last name, Tilkov, is Bulgarian. My father was named Jiko Tilkov Jikov, and Jiko Tilkov is the way the French transcribed his name when he arrived in France, seeking asylum after having fled from communist Bulgaria in the 1950s. 2/

A personal thread, as I’m in a political mood. Just in case you ever wondered where my last name came from (it didn’t sound like a German name to you, did it?) 1/

Finally, if you’re annoyed by my political views, feel free to let me know if you meet me in person and I’ll be happy to debate you face to face, but not here. //

Interestingly, I’ve found that 97% of the folks I respect for their technological proficiency share a similar view. If you’re technical, and you don’t, you might want to assess whether you may be on the wrong side of history 7/

The most important of topics to not stay quiet about is the slow normalization of views that are right-wing, racist, fascist, misogynistic, homophobic or transphobic 5/

I feel unable to separate my personality into distinct parts, one of them technical, one of them political. The older I get, the more I believe the separation is artificial, anyway 2/

Have you tried muting certain words? It would have the additional benefit of working for everyone you follow

I honestly have no idea, despite having lived in Germany for close to 50 years. Maybe @m3poulin knows more about the horrors the Orange Embarrassment refers to
