Replying to @pdcawley
@pdcawley Good point, and just as true :-)
Replying to @pdcawley
@pdcawley Good example of something that’s logically true in the small, morally wrong in the large
Replying to @pdcawley
@pdcawley I fully agree extrapolating patterns from anecdotal evidence is stupid
Replying to @janl
@janl … because although my guess is you’ll find it hard to believe, I’m open to changing my mind.

@janl I’m not surprised you’re not surprised. Sometime I’d actually like to talk face to face about some of this …
Replying to @janl
@janl @gruber Seems to take things out of context again instead of providing it. And I fail to see much wrong with about half of the quotes.

@unclebobmartin I knew which article you had linked to without recognizing the URI or following it :-)

@janl I agree with that, very little room for disagreement there. Does not answer my question, though.
Replying to @janl
@janl Hmmmm. So what you’re saying is that if I select based on anything that’s currently more prevalent in men, I’m acting sexist?

Replying to @pdcawley
@pdcawley So maybe sexist doesn’t mean what I think it means? Can you (or @janl?) point me to a definition that’s acceptable to you?
Replying to @pdcawley
@pdcawley Can you elaborate? I’m honestly interested and willing to change my view.
Replying to @janl
@janl Then the logical conclusion would be that preferring someone with a degree, or even experience, or any acquired skill, is sexist too.
Arguing it’s wrong to prefer people who started programming in their teens is a perfectly reasonable POV. Arguing it’s sexist is not.

@assaf Nor into the typical it-worked-for-me-so-it’s-the-only-way over generalization

@assaf BTW, I don’t buy into the sacrifice-your-life-for-a-few-years ideology, either
