2. learned to program because it was easy to play, and you didn't have to figure out an IDE or a java class. what exists like that today?

@sama js in chrome console. When I show ppl they can move stuff around & change colors on nytimes.com they love it.

@sama PHP was super easy to set up back in the day and no IDEs necessary

@LonnyLot Still super easy ;). It was definitely a lot easier getting started with it as a young kid than with a more complex language.

@LonnyLot I think the major obstacle is setting it up and wrapping your head around the concepts of programming. After that, it's easy.
