basic income (with a phaseout) seems better than welfare given welfare's incentive not to work. what are the best reasons against it?

@sama since my answer is no, and since fiscal policy is not addressing structural misbalances, basic income makes more sense than welfare

@sama do you pay people not participating in the workforce by choice? That would be pricey.
