advice to cos that say they cannot hire engineers: 1) explain your mission 2) give way more equity 3) shake down your network for referrals

@spolsky joel i don't believe in remote engineers for the first 5 or so hires.

@sama totally agree. Point 4) don't give up until you've got your hires. Most co's try 1-3 but give up way too easy.
@sama startups are about growth- engineers, like ppl, want to grow. Great engineers get excited if it might just kill them.
@sama @ScottEdWalker The best way is to have a project that is intellectually stimulating and ground breaking. Engineers will come your way
